Backups and security for your WordPress site, through ChatGPT or Claude
Mitos works through the backup and security plugins your site already runs. It can start a backup, checks for a recent one before a risky change, and reports what your security plugin sees, with usernames and IP addresses shortened.
Can ChatGPT or Claude back up my WordPress site?
It can start a backup through your own backup plugin, with your approval: UpdraftPlus, BackWPup, Duplicator or All-in-One WP Migration. It can see when the last backup ran and whether it worked. It never restores, deletes or downloads a backup; restoring stays with you, in your backup plugin.

Which backup plugin is active, the last successful backup and the history. UpdraftPlus, BackWPup, Duplicator and All-in-One WP Migration can start one; WPvivid is read; BlogVault and Jetpack Backup are recognised.
A backup check before risky changes
Changes approved with a 6-digit code as an extra check that it's really you show the last successful backup in their preview. You choose whether an old backup only warns you, or stops the change until a fresh one exists.
Security status
Firewall, scans, open issues and failed logins from Wordfence, Solid Security, Really Simple Security, All-In-One Security and Sucuri. Usernames show only their first letter, and IP addresses are shortened.
Blocking an address
With Wordfence, a scan in the background and blocking or unblocking an IP address, with your approval and undo. Your own address, the addresses Mitos uses and the site's are refused.

Allow changes, if you want them
The connection is read-only by default. An owner or admin can allow changes; each one then shows a preview and waits for a person's approval, in the chat where your AI assistant supports it, otherwise in Mitos.

Add https://mcp.sar-soft.com/mcp, the Mitos MCP server address, as a custom connector in ChatGPT (with developer mode turned on) or Claude, or as an MCP server in Claude Code or Cursor, sign in and authorize one organization.

What to know
- Mitos never restores, deletes or downloads a backup, and never changes firewall settings.
- At most three backups an hour. On a site with WP-Cron turned off, a backup is queued rather than started.
- BlogVault and Jetpack Backup run outside the site, so Mitos cannot see their last backup.
- Only Wordfence can scan and block through Mitos. The other security plugins are read.
- The settings of backup and security plugins are never changed through Mitos.
- Answers come from ChatGPT or Claude and can be wrong or incomplete. Check important details in the plugin itself.

What is the backup check?
Before a change approved with a 6-digit code as an extra check that it's really you, such as a plugin update, the preview shows when the last successful backup ran. In wp-admin, under Tools → Mitos, you choose whether an old backup only warns you (the default, after 24 hours) or the change is refused until a fresh backup exists.
Will my security plugin block Mitos?
It can. Wordfence, for example, turns off application passwords by default. The Mitos connection check names the setting that gets in the way and how to change it.
